Highton Fun Show
We decided to go the Highton Fun Show today to give Maggie (and Joanna!) some practice and let Tommy have a little ride on Ladybird.
I entered Ladybird in the Thellwell class which she won. I then took Maggie in the M&M In-hand class where she was placed Second.
Tommy then rode Ladybird in the Family Pony class where he was placed 4th. He enjoyed it thoroughly although as it was such a big class we did have to sing “Heads, Shoulders, Knees & Toes” to keep him occupied in the line up!
I then took Maggie in the Ridden M&M Class which she won. I then did one last class which was the Best Trot class and was delighted to win this one too as it was a strong class. All in all we had a good day out although the weather was a little bit damp!

Pony Club Open Combined Training
I took Maggie to the Pony Club Combined Training today.
She did a much better dressage test than on our previous occasions and although we cantered on the wrong leg I managed to correct it.
Then on to the jumping. This was only the 3rd ever course of jumps I have done but she jumped round lovely and we had a clear round.
We came 4th (only 1 mark behind joint 2nd) out of 18 which I was really pleased with.

Southern Agricultural Show
We had a good day at the Southern Agricultural Show. We took Crabbiesden Keltic Magic, Briolen Su & Sarum Ladybird.
Crabbiesden Keltic Magic
Maggie won the Large Breeds M&M Class and took home the Trophy for Hightest Placed Section D for the second year running. Unfortunatly I don't have any photos of her today as I was too busy running about getting ponies ready!
Sarum Ladybird
Ladybird was 6th in the Lead Rein Show Hunter Pony Class which was her first time shown with plaits. She looked very smart but again I unfortunatly don't have any photos.
She was then ridden by Tommy in the Lead Rein M&M class but was unplaced. Tommy had a great time and spent the whole time smiling!
Hannah then took Ladybird in the In Hand M&M class and handled her superbly and came a very good 5th in a very strong class.
Briolen Su
Su was 6th in the M&M Lead Rein Class ridden by Freddie but wasn't placed in the In Hand M&M this time.
Hannah also had a ride on Su at the show and looked very smart.

Ellan Vannin Native Pony Association Summer Show
It was a day of firsts today as I drove myself in the Landrover & Trailer to Ballig Farm, Jurby for the EVNPA Summer Show as Mum & Dad had gone away to the Royal Welsh. I have only driven the trailer a few times and only for short distances with someone accompanying me!
I arrived at the show safely and in plenty of time for our first class for a change!
I took Crabbiesden Keltic Magic & Sarum Ladybird today.
Crabbiesden Keltic Magic
Maggie's first class was the Welsh Section C or D In Hand class which we came 2nd in behind the lovely Derwen Renatta. In the M&M Mare class she was 3rd behind Ellen Jones' lovely 3yr old Connemara Filly Westside Knock Noa & Derwen Renatta (Who ended the day as Supreme & Reserve Champions).
I was due to do the Novice M&M Working Hunter class next but after tacking up and warming up (in very windy conditions) I chickened out and asked Kristine to take her in for me. She jumped round nicely but had a couple of fences down. They were all brought back in and she finished in 3rd place.
I then took her in the Large Breeds Ridden Novice M&M which I won. This was followed by the Ridden Section C & D but Maggie was tired now and not going forward very well so we were placed 3rd.
Sarum Ladybird
Ladybird was shown for me today by Abi Jones. She handled her lovely and had some good results.
Ladybird was placed 3rd in a very strong In Hand Section A Class.
She then went into some of the more fun classes where she came 1st in the Best Mane & Tail and 2nd in the Prettiest Mare class.
A successful day and I managed to get some photos as well which are available to view at www.manxequinephotos.co.uk

New Arrival at Cushag Stud
We have an exciting new arrival today. He is a two year old Section A Colt - Nantdywyll Fflint who we have purchased from Richard & Meirion at the Heniarth Stud in South Wales.
He is by Nantdywyll Barcud ap Bargen and out a mare called Colgele Fiona who is by Coed Coch Penadur.
We plan to keep him entire and use him as our stud stallion. We do not plan to show him this summer but might show him over the winter.

Crabbiesden Keltic Magic (Maggie)
Maggie is a 6 year old Welsh Cob mare. Maggie was bred by Roma Hunter of the Crabbiesden Stud in Scotland and came over to the Isle of Man in October 2002 as a weaned foal.
Her sire is Tyhen the Best (Horeb Euros x Tyhen Rebecca) and her dam is Llanarth Mirain (Llanarth True Briton x Llanarth Mair)
Maggie was broken to ride in 2006 by Lottie Pote and has been brought on for me by Kristine Corr during 2007. I have been riding her myself since the beginning of the year and hope to compete on her during 2008.
